The Eurovision 2024 semi-finals are already behind us. Among the performances that stood out were, among others, Bambie Thug, the representative of Ireland. The artist presented the song “Doomsday Blue” on stage in a very dark version. There were candles, pentagrams and heavy sound on stage. The expressive performance was not understood by all viewers. Comments appeared under Eurovision posts that Bambie Thug brought viewers a “higher level of madness”.
Eurovision 2024. A priest commented on one of the performances
Some viewers were concerned about elements of the artist’s performance, and even said that such things should not be shown on television. Father Sebastian Picur, known from TikTok, joined the outraged voices. The priest recorded a video in which he asks: “Is Eurovision a song contest or a promotion of Satanism?” He also included a fragment of Bambie Thug’s performance in the recording, which shows the pentagram symbol.
“The best performance at Eurovision” – reads the first comment under the priest’s entry. “But there is no word about Satan in this song,” writes another person. “Eurovision is not a Christian song competition, and songs in general”,”Pythagorean mystics saw the pentagram as a symbol of perfection, they associated it with life and health. Don’t be afraid, priest”, “The song was not about Satanism, and the sign itself was not a pentagram but pentacle (a sign of strength in other religions),” we read in subsequent statements.
In fact, in the song Bambi Thug, the artist does not sing about Satan, but the song contains references to the Harry Potter books. In the text, the artist used the well-known spell “Avada Kedavra”, which is supposed to cause immediate and painless death.
