Maciej Gozdowski from Warner Bros. Discovery in Poland announced that a new streaming platform will soon debut on the domestic market. This is about the Max service. According to the announcement, the website will offer not only a wide range of films and series, but also broadcasts of sporting events, content intended for children and streaming of 25 TV stations. The platform will start operating on June 11.
Matuszyński, the director of “The King” and “The Last Family”, returns with a new spy thriller
One of the first original series from Max will be “Przesmyk” by Jan P. Matuszyński. The production tells the story of Ewa Oginiec, who, after a personal tragedy, wants to withdraw from the interview and start a normal life. Everything becomes complicated when her partner Skiner, who is also an agent, is exposed by Russian intelligence and disappears without a trace.
“Isthmus” is a thriller showing viewers the contemporary espionage environment during an emerging conflict and many international tensions. It is also the story of an individual entangled in the specific nature of work in the secret services, from which one can never really give up. The series shows the mechanism of international provocation, as well as the fight between intelligence services in the reality of hybrid war. The series will take place in spring 2021.
Lena Góra in the main role in the series “Przesmyk”
In the main role in the series we will see Lena Górê – actress, screenwriter and filmmaker. The artist is known to Polish viewers from the series “King”, which was also directed by Matuszyński, and the main role in the Netflix production – “Night in Kindergarten”. She co-wrote the script and played the main role alongside the Oscar-nominated John Hawkes in the widely awarded film “Roving Woman”, executive produced by Wim Wenders himself.
Nominated for the Eagles 2024 for the film “Imago”, in which Lena played the main role and for whose script she was awarded at the Cannes Festival in 2019. Lena plays her own mother, Eli. During the Karlovy Vary festival, Imago received the FIPRESCI International Critics Award for the best film, and critics described the character created by Lena as “one of the most important figures of arthouse cinema for years” (Cineuropa). Lena is the winner of the Bella Women Golden Angel for the best European actress 2023 and the award for the best actress at the FPFF Gdynia 2023.
