Madonna broke the all-time record. There have never been such crowds at her concert before

On May 4, Madonna’s last concert as part of the “Celebration Tour” took place on Copacabana Beach in Rio De Janeiro. Thanks to this event, the artist managed to break her own record from 1987.

Last October, Madonna embarked on a concert tour that was supposed to be the culmination of her 40-year performing career. During the “Celebration Tour”, the artist played 80 concerts in Europe, the United States and South America. It was there, in Rio De Janeiro, that she ended her world tour that had been going on for 7 months. The concert taking place in Brazil was not only the last on the long list of “Celebration Tour”, but also the most impressive event in the history of the singer’s musical performances. So far, the record audience for one Madonna concert was 130,000 people. This time, the artist beat this result 12 times.

Madonna’s concert attracted crowds. 1.6 million people on the beach in Copacabana

The last concert of the “Celebration Tour” took place on May 4 on the famous Copacabana beach in Rio De Janeiro. The event organizers assumed that as many as 2 million people might come to the ocean shore. Ultimately, Madonna’s musical show attracted as many as 1.6 million fans to the Brazilian beach. About 3,000 policemen kept order during the concert. Considering the tragedy that occurred last year before Taylor Swift’s concert, the Brazilian authorities took precautions – free drinks were distributed to participants, and the concert area was previously washed with water by firefighters.

During the concert on Copacabana Beach, Madonna sang her greatest hits, including “Like a Virgin” and “Hung Up”. She started the event by praising the unique location: “And here we are in the most beautiful place on Earth. It’s a magical place.” The authorities of Rio De Janeiro spent 20 million reais to organize the concert. Officials estimated that thanks to the tourists who came to this event, the local economy would be enriched by approximately 300 million reais (PLN 237.8 million).
