Igor Kwiatkowski gained popularity by playing Mariolka in the sketches of the Paranienormalni cabaret. After 13 years, however, he decided to leave the group and start a solo career. Robert Motyka could not come to terms with his colleague’s decision and commented bitterly on the supposedly unexpected change in the media. What was the reason for the comedian’s decision?

The number of groups on the Polish cabaret scene increases every year, but they remain audience favorites. The cabaret, founded by Robert Motyka and Igor Kwiatkowski, debuted in 2004 and became a sensation almost immediately. Despite many successes, after 13 years the original lineup of the group broke up and decided to pursue a solo career. This caused huge controversy, and fans agreed that Paranormal’s glory days were coming to an end. In interviews, the comedian was reluctant to discuss this topic, explaining that the only motivation for making this decision was the desire for development and change. Motyka, however, was a bit more talkative, commenting bitterly on the end of cooperation with his colleague in the “Dzień Dobry TVN” program.

He directly admitted that this decision was also a huge shock for him, because they had planned many joint projects, which were never implemented because of this. – My friend Igor and I have experienced successes and tragedies – he began, embittered. – Suddenly, in January 2017, my friend said that he was leaving this project and would now pursue a solo career – he recalled with regret. – We had plans together, and in January it turned out that it was over – he said. He did not hide the fact that it had a negative impact on his psyche, he lost the motivation to act, and only therapy helped him get back on his feet.

Kwiatkowski revealed why he left the cabaret. He didn’t mince his words

The statement quickly circulated in the media, causing quite a stir. Many people thought that the cooperation ended in a friendly atmosphere, but suddenly it turned out that they were in conflict with each other. After unrelenting speculation, Kwiatkowski finally decided to speak out on the matter. In a lengthy post on Instagram, which disappeared from his profile as quickly as it was published, he confessed that the decision was well-thought-out.

I gained the courage to put my life in order. To apologize to whomever is necessary and to whom it was toxic means to break off contact… I also gained the courage to try my hand at soloing. It turned out to be the best solution for me. I felt like I had a new life

– quotes his statement. He also ensured that his colleagues were informed about his plans in advance, and he behaved fairly towards them, waiving all rights to the Paranienormal achievements.

I told my friends about my decision. I didn’t leave anyone out in the cold. It was time to take care of myself financially and decide what to do next. We still had almost a year of playing together ahead of us. I decided to go solo, and my friends wanted to continue riding in the cabaret wheelchair. That’s why I gave up the rights to the name. I left all our possessions to them

When the emotions subsided, he reflected and realized that it was completely unnecessary. He deleted the entry and then published a short apology, which also disappeared from the Internet shortly thereafter, and he never returned to the topic again.
