These fruits are most often available in dried form in Polish stores, but they are also available in fresh form. You can find them in Polish supermarkets mainly in the season from July to November. If you come across them, it is worth adding a few pieces to your basket without hesitation. But why? They are not only delicious, but also very healthy.

Figs are not only delicious, but also a source of valuable vitamins and minerals. They will also be a great addition to your diet if you plan to lose a few extra kilos. First of all, they contain large amounts of fiber. Dietary fiber, also known as dietary fiber, is a group of substances that play an important role in the functioning of the human digestive system. Fiber affects the intestinal walls, stimulates their blood supply and accelerates peristaltic movements. That’s why it is called an “intestinal duster”, which effectively cleanses them of deposits. It thus helps maintain the good condition of the intestinal microflora.

Fiber absorbs water and fills the stomach walls. This reduces the feeling of hunger and makes us feel full for longer. Which, in turn, makes it easier for us to maintain a slim figure because, for example, we do not feel like snacking between meals. Fiber also contributes to lower cholesterol absorption, lowers blood pressure and the need for insulin.

However, fig is not only fiber, but also the above-mentioned vitamins and minerals. It contains a lot of calcium, which is responsible for the development and condition of our teeth and bones. It is also a rich source of zinc, which strengthens immunity. It is worth adding that zinc also “takes care” of the condition of our skin, nails and hair, because it participates in the formation of keratin – responsible for the structure of hair and slowing down hair loss.

What else? Figs also contain magnesium and potassium. The first one is of great importance for the so-called “cardiac” because it regulates neuromuscular excitability by reducing signal conduction, which prevents uneven and accelerated heartbeat. It also has an antispasmodic effect on blood vessels, thus protecting against ischemia, ischemic heart disease and hypertension. Potassium is just as important. It takes part in the process of burning carbohydrates and proteins. It affects the oxygenation of the brain and all cells of our body, which is why it is an essential element that ensures proper functioning of muscles.

The true wealth of all nutrients can be found in raw figs, so it is best to eat these fruits in this form. Figs are rich in B vitamins (B1, B2, B3, B6 and folic acid), which regulate circulation, influence digestion, hormonal balance and immunity. They also contain vitamin A, which acts as an antioxidant that fights the effects of free radicals responsible for the aging process. Additionally, figs contain vitamin C, E and K.

Weight loss. How to avoid mistakes?

However, let us remember a certain fundamental principle. Simply eating figs or any other product will not automatically make you lose weight. For the process of losing unnecessary kilograms to be effective and, most importantly, safe for our health, several factors must come together: regular physical activity appropriately matched to our capabilities and needs, mental hygiene, stress reduction and a well-balanced diet, rich in all the required nutrients. Before we try to lose weight, we should consult a doctor and perform the necessary blood tests and checks.

Before we permanently introduce figs (or any other product) to our diet, we should also make sure that we do not have a food allergy to it. Then such a product should be eliminated from our diet as soon as possible.
