As invariably every year in Poland, Unfortunately, next year’s calendar of holidays does not look promising in this respect, as some of them fall on Sunday. This means that we will not be entitled to additional days off for them. However, we advise you how to extend your holidays a bit and gain as many as four long weekends.
Calendar 2022: holidays to keep in mind
Holidays can be divided into the so-called fixed and movable, i.e. those whose date changes every year. looks like this:
- January 1 (Saturday) – New Year’s Day,
- January 6 (Thursday) – Epiphany,
- April 17 (Sunday) – the first day of Easter,
- April 18 (Monday) – the second day of Easter,
- May 1 (Sunday) – National Holiday,
- May 3 (Tuesday) – May 3rd National Day,
- June 5 (Sunday) – Pentecost (Pentecost),
- June 16 (Thursday) – Corpus Christi,
- August 15 (Monday) – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
- November 1 (Tuesday) – All Saints,
- November 11 (Friday) – Independence Day,
- December 25 (Sunday) – the first day of Christmas,
- December 26 (Monday) – the second day of Christmas.
Additional days off 2022: day off for the holiday on Saturday
According to the labor code, for public holidays falling on Saturday, the employer is obliged to appoint us. Unfortunately, in 2022, there will be many opportunities for this, because only the New Year falls on Saturday. Therefore, additional time off will be available to employees working under a contract of employment only on 1 January.
We advise you on how to gain four long weekends in 2022
Although the next year’s arrangement of holidays may not arouse much enthusiasm at first glance, we will be able to extend the holiday periods a bit:
- 6.01 – 9.01 – around Epiphany, it is enough to take a free Friday,
- 30.04 – 3.05 – during public holidays it is enough to take a Monday off,
- 16.06 – 19.06 – after Corpus Christi it is enough to take a free Friday,
- 29.10 – 1.11 – during All Saints Day it is enough to take a day off on Monday.
