Keeping flour in its original packaging is not the best idea. The paper often gets damaged or soggy, which leads to unpleasant situations. Anyone who has had flour or groats spilled all over the kitchen will certainly understand this.
It is worth purchasing appropriate containers. A leaky packaging may lead to moisture accumulating inside, making our flour unfit for use. Glass jars, metal cans and plastic containers dedicated to flour will work best. It is very important not only how you store flour, but also where. It likes dry, dark places without exposure to sunlight.

Everyone who cooks and uses flour or groats in their diet has at least once encountered uninvited guests brought from the store. Food bugs are insects that feed on loose grain products and when we let them, they can invade our kitchen cabinets. It is worth pouring flour into a container immediately after returning from the store and checking if there is anything hidden in it. Unfortunately, the “by eye” method often fails, and the traditional knowledge of our grandmothers comes to the rescue. The purchased flour should be poured into smaller, dry jars. Close them well and place them in the freezer for two days. Thanks to the low temperature, we will get rid of eggs and insect larvae invisible to the naked eye and we will be sure that our flour is free of small pests.
