In February, we met this year’s Polish representative in the Eurovision Song Contest. It was 24-year-old Luna, aka Aleksandra Wielgomas. In May, the artist will go to Malmo, where she will face representatives of other countries. In an interview for Forbes, she admitted that she had made an important decision even before appearing on the Eurovision stage.
Luna decided to change her name. “I don’t use it every day”
The 24-year-old artist revealed in an interview with Forbes that after the competition, she intends to go to the office to change her name to what is currently her stage name. The singer explained that since she became very recognizable, many people stopped calling her “Aleksandra”. The person concerned is also not particularly happy with this name.
So she decided that such a decision would be a big breakthrough for her. By changing her name, she will also open a new chapter in her life. “It’s a symbol of separating what was and starting my own path… I want to do this to fully take over my life, live my own way, on my own terms, as an independent, very individual person,” said the artist, at the same time emphasizing that her relatives did not interfere in her decision. “I am an adult girl. I am not changing my surname for now, only my name,” she added.
However, Luna will have to postpone the name change procedures until the end of the Eurovision Song Contest. The exchange of documents takes some time, and the artist needs them to be able to move freely between Poland and other countries.
