According to Kurier Lubelski, a terrifying event took place in the town of Dzwola in Janów County. On April 21 this year, a 33-year-old from Biłgoraj County allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl. It happened during a party during which everyone was drinking alcohol. Although it was attended mainly by teenagers, an adult man also appeared. According to the local police, the 33-year-old took advantage of the fact that the girl was under the influence of alcohol. He attacked her while she was sleeping.
The perpetrator was placed under pre-trial detention
The man first assaulted the girl and then raped her. As investigators emphasize, the 33-year-old took advantage of the fact that the teenager was intoxicated. His actions were not planned. – From the very beginning, we did not take into account the hypothesis that the 33-year-old wanted to deliberately get the girl drunk or give her any drugs – said Faustyna Łazur, a staff trainee at the District Police Headquarters in Janów Lubelski, in an interview with o2.pl.
After the incident, the victim’s relatives quickly informed the police about the incident. At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Janów Lubelski, the 33-year-old was placed in pre-trial detention for three months. The man was charged with “sexual abuse in a state of helplessness”. He faces up to eight years in prison.

This reaction has a protective effect
Unfortunately, the topic of sexual violence keeps coming back like a boomerang. Recently, our website published an interview with psychotraumatologist Katarzyna Nowakowska. The expert commented, among other things, on how victims of such crimes react. As she emphasized, reactions can be very different. You can read the entire conversation here:
– For a long time, there was a belief that the response to an attack was fight or flight. Then it was noticed that in fact many animals – including humans – react to such a threat by paralysis and freezing. So, at the beginning, the scientific community used the term “2F”, i.e. “fight or flight”. Then “freeze” appeared, i.e. freezing, this paralysis. In many videos on YouTube we can see, for example, animals pretending to faint when a predator is chasing them. It may look grotesque, but they are terrified. This reaction has a protective effect. Predators’ eyes react to movement. When something stops moving, it is difficult for a predator to notice it. So by stopping moving, they can survive, she said in an interview with Joanna Zaremba.
And as the expert added: – We cannot consciously decide that he will freeze us. This mechanism is quite complicated, contrary to appearances, because it stimulates the entire autonomic nervous system and its sympathetic part, which is responsible for mobilization, and the parasympathetic part, which acts opposite to the sympathetic part. So it’s a bit like your body pressing the brake and gas at the same time. The result is paralysis.
