This question was answered by scientists from the Australian University of New South Wales. In 2016, they examined over 8,500 women aged 18 to 100. They showed them photos of men with and without beards and asked them to rate their attractiveness in terms of forming a long-term relationship.
It turned out that all (this is not an error) respondents unanimously found men with any facial hair more attractive when it comes to building a long-term relationship. As we read on the website, compared to shaven men, men with facial hair received higher scores in terms of characteristics traditionally attributed to “alpha males” – respondents considered them more masculine, dominant (self-confident) and with a predatory appearance.
