Few people know that Press joined the cast of the hit production somewhat by accident. At that time, he dreamed of playing the pharaoh in Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s production, but the director decided to entrust the role to his younger colleague, which brought him great disappointment, especially since at that time he could barely make ends meet. So when he found out about the search for an actor for a war picture, he decided to try his hand at it. – They were looking for a brunette with southern beauty and they saw me in this role. I didn’t believe anything would come of it. I went rather for a few pennies, as I was a poor spinner at that time. Besides, it was a war picture, and I had no contact with the army before, even during my studies – when he became the driver of the famous Rudy tank.
