Marta Glanc does not hide the fact that she is a priest’s daughter. The woman appeared in a TVN report. – We, the children of priests, are pushed into the shadows. And that’s the worst thing for us. We perceive it as a “disgrace”. The Church has entrusted us with carrying this secret – said Marta Glanc in “Uwaga! TVN”.

Celibacy of Catholic clergy is a topic that arouses great controversy. This issue is regulated by the provisions contained in the Code of Canon Law of 1917. However, we must note that initially celibacy was completely voluntary. Over time, however, only lower-ranking clergy were allowed to have wives. In the 4th century AD, a synod banned clergy from having sex and having children. In turn, in the 11th century, Pope Gregory VII introduced the principle of celibacy of priests as universally applicable.

However, it is no secret that many Catholic clergy have partners and children. It is estimated that there may currently be as many as 3,000 people in our country whose fathers are priests. It is worth noting, however, that actually estimating the scale of this phenomenon is extremely difficult. Marta Glanc commented on this topic in her report. The woman is the daughter of a priest. Some time ago she even published a book on this subject (“The Priest’s Daughter”, Wydawnictwo: Krytyka Polityczna). As she said:

We, children of priests, are pushed into the shadows. And that’s the worst thing for us. We perceive it as a “disgrace”. The Church has entrusted us with carrying this mystery. And that’s too much for one person, too much for a child.

“Please do not contact me”

Mrs. Marta admitted in a TVN report that, as an adult woman, she decided to give her father a chance to come to terms with his mistakes. So she went to a small town where the man was a parish priest. – My feelings towards you have always been sincere. I’ve always loved you. I was with you as long as I could. I helped you as much as I could. And that’s it. […] Do you think scratching it all out is the way to go? Every now and then you stick a pin in my heart and I don’t have to listen to it. I go to confession, I love God and he will judge me, not you – the woman heard. – Marta, you’re making me ask you to leave here. And please do not contact me, the priest added.

It is worth mentioning that Mrs. Marta’s father admitted to the bishop that he had a daughter. However, his name never appeared in any documents. So the woman decided to fight for recognition of paternity in court. A few days ago, the prosecutor’s office filed a lawsuit to the district court to establish paternity.
