Black tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world. It turns out that in addition to the stimulating effect, it can also help with weight loss. However, another drink will work better here. What should you drink instead of black tea if you want to lose weight?

Black tea has accompanied us, Europeans, since the beginning of the 17th century. It was then that it was first brought by the Dutch. It was first brought to England by the merchant Thomas Garraway in 1658. In Russia, it has been drunk since 1618, when it was a gift from the Emperor of China to Tsar Michael I Romanov. Today it is one of the most popular and beloved drinks in the world. And very often we choose this classic version, i.e. plain black tea. Some people prefer it strong and bitter, others add a slice of lemon or sweeten it with honey.

What are the benefits of drinking black tea? First of all, stimulation of the nervous system: drowsiness and fatigue are reduced, thought processes run more efficiently, and our mood improves. Heart action and lung ventilation are also improved. This is determined by purine alkaloids, mainly caffeine. But it is not everything. Drinking black tea also supports metabolic processes, which may translate into faster weight loss. Polyphenols that are not absorbed in the liver are responsible for this, and therefore can reach the intestines.

At the very beginning, however, it should be emphasized that drinking various types of infusions and teas will not cause you to lose weight. If we want to lose unnecessary kilograms, we should decide on a reducing diet that will be properly balanced. And it’s not just about the times or sizes of meals. It should meet the individual needs of our body and depend on our physical activity, caloric demand and general health condition. Before starting any weight loss or diet on your own, you should first consult your doctor who will order appropriate blood tests.

It is also worth adding that drinking black tea – which may have a beneficial effect on metabolic processes – combined with hypertension is not a good idea. Although it has been proven that it does not raise blood pressure, green tea is much healthier and does not contain as much caffeine as black tea.

And this is the tea we will focus on. It is worth choosing it instead of black for at least several reasons. First of all, the mentioned caffeine. The caffeine content in a cup of green tea is approximately 20-35 mg (whereas a cup of black tea contains approximately 45 mg). In addition, it has also been proven that drinking green tea supports the process of burning belly fat and may reduce the risk of abdominal obesity. Additionally, regular consumption of green tea may help reduce weight.

Such actions are contained in green tea leaves catechins. These are antioxidants that influence metabolism and fight free radicals – which are responsible for the aging process of tissues. The compounds rich in green tea support faster fat burning and limit the absorption of fats from meals. Green tea has also been proven to suppress appetite.
