She celebrated her birthday at a restaurant, but didn’t pay for anything. The guests received the bill

Should a person celebrating a birthday party at the venue bear the entire cost of the event? After The Mirror publicized the story of one of its readers, a discussion broke out on the subject online. It turns out that not everyone is enthusiastic about settling the bill themselves when they are invited to a birthday party.

Everyone would like to feel special on their birthday. This is a perfect opportunity to meet with friends and celebrate this special time together. However, organizing an event is not easy – especially with rising inflation. For this reason, some people compromise and if they organize a meeting in a restaurant, they count on the guests to pay the bill themselves. This is met with various reactions. Recently, one of the birthday stories was described by The Mirror.

She celebrated her birthday at a restaurant, but the guests had to pay for themselves

The birthday girl, who organized a party for her loved ones at a restaurant, did not expect that the event would become a source of worry for her. Eight people from close circle attended the party. Everyone was having a good time until the bill came. The guests were surprised that they had to cover part of the costs themselves. The next morning, the woman received a message from her friend.

She wrote that future guests would appreciate it if I informed them that they had to pay for themselves

– she reported afterward. There were voices that the expenses exceeded the possibilities of the invitees and that they would prefer to be aware that they would have to bear additional costs. They added that demanding payment from them was rude.

“I feel guilty”

Afterwards, the birthday girl began to wonder whether she should really pay the bill herself. She argued that we live in times when it seems normal to split the bill.

In my culture, everyone just splits the bill or pays for their own meals, but maybe I’m wrong in assuming everyone agrees with that. I really feel guilty because I would never want my celebration to put someone in a bad financial situation and I don’t want our friendship to be jeopardized because of it.

– she added.
