It has been 40 years since Kortatu gave his first concert; 34 since Negu Gorriak first set foot on stage, in Herrera de la Mancha; and 13 since Fermin Muguruza (Irun, 1963) offered his last concert.

Today, coinciding with his 61st birthday, Muguruza has announced that he will return to the stage to share his music in “a party against censorship and the attacks from the extreme right that we have been suffering lately.”

Fermin returns to the front line to spread the idea, and he does so with sharpened axes, the revised manifesto and the sound system tight. It will be a night to remember “the moments that have shaped many and many of us and the collective imagination of this country” and for “thousands of throats” to demonstrate that “in this country we know how to move beyond censorship.”

In a night full of historical songs, on December 20, at the Bilbao Arena, compositions by both Kortatu and Negu Gorriak and the solo career of the Irununda musician will be heard, remembered and sung, and Muguruza will thus respond to the attacks received in recent times: “I want this concert to be a party against censorship and the attacks from the extreme right that we have been suffering lately. There are the cases of the director and five teachers from the board of directors of a school in Valencia who have been charged for painting a mural that pays tribute to my creative career, the attacks on Itziar Ituño or the Athletic players for singing ‘Sarri, Sarri’.

“I want to say it very clearly and loudly: if you don’t like ‘Sarri, Sarri’, on December 20 you will have thousands of throats showing that in this country we know how to move beyond censorship,” Muguruza highlighted.

Tickets for the “FM Muguruza. 1984-2024” concert will go on sale next April 23, at 10:00 a.m., on Fermin Muguruza’s website.
