These are the biggest consumers of electricity in the house. They go on very nicely. They cost you up to PLN 860 per year

From July 1, 2024, frozen energy prices will no longer apply, so it’s no wonder that many people are starting to worry about their bills. Experts estimate that these may increase by up to 13%. How to save on electricity? It is worth checking what consumes the most electricity in your home.

Electricity prices have been frozen in 2022. Thanks to this, we paid lower prices, but electricity prices at the level from 2 years ago will only apply until June 30, 2024. Increases can be expected from July 1, as new maximum electricity price rates are to come into force. In this situation, many people wonder how to save on energy consumption and reduce their bills. Check what uses the most electricity in your home.

Which home devices consume the most electricity? The biggest thief is not obvious

After June 30, electricity prices are to increase from PLN 412 per MWh to PLN 500 per MWh. This means that the cost of energy, with the same electricity consumption as today, could increase by 21 percent. that the bills themselves will be higher by about 11-13 percent. Therefore, it is worth considering what consumes the most electricity in your home.

Large household appliances come to mind immediately, but among the “power thieves” there are also less obvious appliances. For example, charging a phone every day for about 60 minutes with a 10 W charger costs about PLN 3-5 a year. Problems arise with other devices that consume electricity even when not in use. Some time ago, a report estimated the annual energy consumption and the cost of the most common equipment in homes. It shows that the biggest energy guzzler in homes is the electric oven. Both of these devices cost us approximately PLN 860 per year, and from July 1 it will be even PLN 971. What else is the biggest “power thief” at home?

  • fridge (approx. PLN 186 per year, from July 1 PLN 210),
  • electric kettle (approx. PLN 164 per year, from July 1 PLN 185),
  • desktop computer (approx. PLN 135 per year, from July 1: PLN 150),
  • vacuum cleaner (approx. PLN 108 per year, from July 1: PLN 122),
  • laptop (approx. PLN 95 per year, from July 1 PLN 107),
  • TV set (approx. PLN 88 per year, from July 1: PLN 100).

Who is the energy voucher for and how much should it be? The planned rates are already known

From July 1, 2024, there will no longer be limits on energy consumption, however. It will also be possible to “recalculate electricity and gas tariffs”, and new maximum electricity prices will also be introduced.

How much should the energy voucher be? Approximately 3.5 million Poles will receive it, whose income does not exceed PLN 2,500 per person in a single-person household or PLN 1,700 per person in the case of families. According to the project, the voucher is to amount to:

  • PLN 300 for a single-person household,
  • PLN 400 for a two- and three-person household,
  • PLN 500 for a four- or five-person household,
  • PLN 600 for larger households.
