Polish film awarded at a foreign festival. This story really happened

The Polish short film “Two Shores” by Mateusz Subieta and Ewa Rodart won the Grand Prix at the ONE Country ONE Film international film festival in France. As the co-author of the film emphasized, for her it is “primarily a personal story”, because the plot of the production was inspired by real events.

“The main character comes from Poland to Brighton Beach in New York to face the ghosts of the past. New facts give her a chance to verify her own memories” – this is the official description of the film.

“The story shown in ‘Two Shores’ poetically tells the common fate of Polish families during the Polish People’s Republic, but these stories transcend the borders of one country and era. The film gently touches on what is most painful and what shapes us, but at the same time it is not devoid of intriguing, an almost documentary observation of the streets of a metropolis where many cultures and histories mix,” we read further.

“Two Shores” is mainly the original work of Ewa Rodart. Who is the Polish artist?

The main roles were played by Ewa Rodart and Maks Kubiś, as well as Jerzy Bończak, Philip Lenkowsky known from “Amadeus”, and the world-famous opera singer Holger Falk. The main actress is also the co-director and co-writer of the film. She lives in the United States and describes herself as an actress, director and visual artist.

‘Two Shores’ is my directorial debut, but above all it is a personal story, which is why this production is of great importance to me. I am glad that the film was appreciated internationally – said Ewa Rodart.
