Marta has been working remotely for over six years. She laughs that she was doing it before the pandemic popularized this solution. She lives in Poznań, and her company is based in Warsaw. If she lost the opportunity to work from home, she would change her job. – If my employer announced that we were returning to full-time work, I would start looking for a new job. For me, remote work means, above all, saving resources: time because I don’t waste it in traffic jams, gasoline because I don’t have to commute anywhere, etc. Of course, remote work also has its disadvantages, but in my opinion there are more advantages – says Marta.
“Visits to the office mean endless lunches, coffees and gossip”
Our interlocutor guesses why some companies give up remote work. – I have the impression that many entrepreneurs’ desire to return to the office is related to the fear that employees at home are not as efficient as in the office. Personally, I have a different impression. Visits to the office mean endless lunches, coffees, gossip, and going out for a cigarette, says Marta. And as he adds:
Considering the housing crisis in Poland, I would like to see some office buildings converted into residential buildings. We certainly need more apartments in this country, but I am not convinced that we need more glass behemoths that sit empty most of the week.

It was a matter of getting used to it
However, Maja did not like working from home even before the outbreak of the pandemic. Now, however, he cannot imagine any other solution. – I think that in my case it was a matter of getting used to it. At the very beginning, I felt distracted at home, I was constantly distracted by something. Now I feel this way when I come to the office once a week, he says.
And as he points out, he appreciates the current situation. – I don’t have to waste time commuting. In my case, it’s two hours a day! I hope my employer doesn’t change the rules. I wouldn’t want to waste energy and time standing in Warsaw traffic jams again, reveals Maja.
Not only convenience, but also savings
Ewa, like Marta, has no doubt that she would change the company if she lost the opportunity to work from home. She will graduate in 2021. She started gaining her first professional experience by working remotely. Currently, he cannot imagine this changing. – I must admit that for me it is not only convenience, but also savings. I don’t have to order food like in the old days. I used to do this because my company doesn’t have a canteen. Now I cook alone. Besides, I don’t buy monthly tickets. If I lost the opportunity to work remotely, I would probably demand a raise, she reveals.
