For many years now, we have heard a lot about cars in Poland, which, unfortunately, are not always found on time and freed from the hands of thieves. The methods change from year to year, and now it is worth paying attention to the “suitcase” trick. What exactly is it and what should you watch out for? How to protect yourself against car theft?
Thieves steal cars using the suitcase method. What is it?
The “suitcase” method of theft involves one of the drivers approaching the driver, window or door of the apartment close enough to obtain the signal from the remote control or key. The second one approaches the car and the device is treated like a key – the door unlocks, which also makes it possible to start the engine. The method does not require physically forcing the locks, which is why it is very dangerous for all car users.
The police closely monitor car thefts, as well as the methods used:
If you find a failure in your car alarm, door lock or garage lock that you cannot rationally explain – be vigilant – it may mean that a thief is interested in your car.

- Never forget to take the keys out of the ignition. Sound the alarm and lock the doors, even if you only leave the vehicle for a short while.
- Do not leave vehicle documents and spare keys in the car.
- Do not leave valuable items in the car, which, apart from the vehicle, could also tempt a thief to break into it.
- Buy and install wheel bolts that will protect your vehicle against theft.
- If possible, always park in a garage or guarded parking lot.
