Last week, an unprecedented situation occurred in our country. For the first time in the history of Polish parliamentarism, draft laws liberalizing abortion law were adopted by the Sejm and sent to an extraordinary commission, which will continue to work on them. For this reason, the topic of abortion is again being discussed in the Polish media.
“Performance commissioned by the abortion lobby?”, or “real Polish news” in a nutshell
Recently, TVP Info, but also TV Republika, which is known for supporting the right political side, attempted such a debate. Importantly, the discussion on Sakiewicz’s station began after the broadcast of the film “Sentencing of the Innocents. Roe v. Wade”, which the world media called “the purest propaganda” (Variety) or a “conspiracy theory” (The New York Times).
In addition to the members of parliament, the studio of the right-wing station also included Natalia Broniarczyk from the Abortion Dream Team, who took the “morning after” pill, which has recently been widely discussed in Polish politics. Her behavior aroused many emotions among Internet users, and the creators of “real Polish news” decided to make extensive material about the activist.
An activist from the Abortion Dream Team bluntly stated that ‘abortion, like everything in capitalism, is a business’. She also had no trouble answering whose money her organization operates (…). However, it must be said that it has very negative effects on women’s health, which activists do not talk about. And I leave it to your judgment to call the killing of unborn life a ‘business’, announced Danuta Holecka.
However, in the material authored by 25-year-old Adrian Borecki, it was argued that the purpose of Broniarczyk’s speech was to “promote abortion pills” as “element of a pharmaceutical company’s campaign”, because the activist appeared on air with a product with a specific name. The focus was also on the financing of the organization, quoting a fragment of Sunday’s debate on TV Republika.
– This is money, for example, from the governments of Belgium, France, the Netherlands, but in fact the vast majority of our money, i.e. the money we donate for abortion, comes from private donors – said Natalia Broniarczyk. Then we hear the voice of a TV Republika employee who says: “This is about big money, which the member of the pro-abortion organization keeps talking about.”
Later, viewers were shown another fragment of the activist’s statement. – Abortion, like everything in capitalism, is a business. However, we presented in the Sejm not the amount of earnings, but the amount of debt, which means that the Polish state has saved so much because abortion is very difficult to access in Poland, she said.
“Real Polish news” focuses on conservative experts. An evaluation of their work can be found online
Borecki then decided to recall a recording from the parliamentary corridor, popular on the Internet, in which Natalia Broniarczyk interrupts an interview with a TV Republika reporter, demanding that the government pay PLN 50 million for abortions of Polish women performed with money from other countries. Then Adrian Borecki asked her if she could not disturb him at work, to which the activist replied: “Can you not disturb me in my life?”
As a counterweight to the words of a member of the Abortion Dream Team, the words of Dr. Hab. medical sciences Ewa Dmoch-Gajzlerska, who is a gynecologist. On the website we can find opinions from 33 patients. Most of them are negative, and the average rating for the doctor’s work is one and a half stars out of five.
– Substances and hormones that are introduced into this type of pills [“dzień po”], are also effective in other parts of the body. If the effect of this pill is heavy bleeding, it may lead to a condition that the woman will require medical intervention. At the moment of hemorrhage, we close it [płodowi] access to oxygen, to food. It’s like taking someone by the neck and strangling them and asking what happened, said the gynecologist in “real Polish news”.
Everything bad is related to the “December 13 coalition”. This is what 25-year-old Adrian Borecki says
At the very end of the material, a fragment of the camera recording from the corridor at TV Republika is shown, in which Natalia Broniarczyk can be seen “saying goodbye” to the right-wing station with her middle finger raised after leaving the studio. Her behavior was described as a lack of culture and compared to the protests of the National Women’s Strike, where a popular slogan was “fuck off*.” Of course, according to Borecki, the “December 13 coalition” uses the same language.
Women are exploited by various groups who do not even hide that abortion is their business – we hear at the end.
