Renata Przemyk with a new project. Soon in Warsaw, but not only

Renata Przemyk and Dagadana created together their own ethnic project “Vera to ja”. It consists of lucky 13 songs inspired by the true nature of a woman who draws her strength from the earth, water and the moon.

Her story begins at conception, through relationships with the world, man, woman, daughter, up to conscious departure. Living in harmony with nature is both profound and simple, and difficult topics simply told break the taboo. The authors of the project are already preparing for concerts. The first of them is planned in Warsaw. And the next one?

“Folk wisdom often surprises us with its accuracy and bluntness”

The special guests of the concert will be Daga Gregorowicz and Dana Vynnytska, the Dagadana band. In their work, they use elements of Polish and Ukrainian culture through jazz, electronics and world music.

The lyrics based on a folk song, poetically framed, harmonize perfectly with the hurdy-gurdy and the loops. Ethnic instruments harmonize eclectically with the achievements of modern technology, combining the old world with the new, as in the life of every woman balancing most often on the edge. – White singing well reflects the female power flying with a strong voice to the world and to heaven. Folk wisdom often surprises us with its accuracy and bluntness, and simple melodies, sometimes sung tenderly, sometimes cut through the space like a knife with their power. I was strongly inspired by reading “Who Runs with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pincola Estes, but also by my own observations and experiences – says Renata Przemyk.

The band consists of: Renata Przemyk – vocals, Daga Gregorowicz – vocals, Dana Vynnytska – vocals, Piotr Wojtanowski – bass guitar, acoustic guitar, Tomasz Drozdek – percussion, wind and string instruments, Maciej Gołyźniak – drums, Kamil Błoniarz – accordion and Jacek Bielecki – cello.

Who is Renata Przemyk?

Renata Przemyk is a person who follows her own path, is rebellious and curious about the world. He sings, plays, composes, writes lyrics, cooperates with the theater and other artists. He willingly takes up challenges and has the courage to go against the grain. Her songs, sung from the heart and with all her heart, became hits. Most of her albums achieved gold status for selling over 50,000 of each title, and were nominated and awarded many times, mostly for artistic individuality.

It is difficult to clearly define Renata’s musical work – there is rock, moving lyrics, ethnic elements, sometimes a strong rhythm section, sometimes a dynamic voice with only bass, but also irony and a white voice – everything that may be needed at a given moment to express current emotions. There are no boundaries in music. The artist herself calls what she does an eternal search for sounds, emotions and atmospheres unlike anything before. That’s probably why each subsequent album is radically different from the previous one, although each one invariably features the accordion, an instrument for which she has an obvious weakness, regardless of the fashions and her characteristic voice. In the “Polityka” and “Wprost” plebiscite, she was among the hundred most outstanding artists of the 20th century.
