Hannah Waddingham was one of the stars of the Olivier Awards gala in London. The actress had an unpleasant situation on the red carpet in front of the Royal Albert Hall. There was a sharp exchange of opinions with the photographer.

The red carpet is an integral part of many award ceremonies. Actors and actresses pose for photojournalists, but it is not always pleasant. Hannah Waddingham, who was to host the Olivier Awards gala in London, found this out.

Hannah Waddingham blasts photojournalist

Most actresses, when asked to turn towards the cameras and show more of this and that, grit their teeth and, at the price of good relations with the press, follow the wishes of the photojournalists. All parties want the photos to turn out as good as possible – for actors and actresses it is a promotion, for reporters it is a job. However, when a person with a camera asks an actress to show a little more skin, he cannot be sure of the reaction. Most often it is a smile and compliance with the request, sometimes ignoring insistent calls. There is also Hannah Waddingham, known from “Ted Lasso”, who says directly what she thinks about this type of texts.

God, you would never say that to a man, buddy. Don’t be a dick or I’ll leave. Don’t call me “show me your leg”, no, the actress scolded the reporter.

She did so with a smile and then actually headed towards the Royal Albert Hall, ending the photo session. She was greeted by several cheering female voices, and comments praising the actress’s reaction appeared online.

This reaction is nothing new for Waddingham. In an interview with Glamour, she recently mentioned that she always tried to respond to misogynistic taunts from photojournalists that were simply sexism:

I’ve had to deal with sexism since I was 20 and working as a model. The guy photographers tried to position me in their own way. I reacted immediately – they tried to bark something else, but I didn’t give in. I always reacted, and back then it wasn’t a time when people supported you in such a situation, Waddingham said.
