Among the demands of last year’s screenwriters’ strikes in the United States was the requirement to limit the use of artificial intelligence in the film industry. However, a few months after the end of the strike, we can sleep peacefully. Why? The trailer of the first film created entirely by artificial intelligence has just been shown and it looks like a very low-class production.
The first ever movie made by AI is already a fact. The TV manufacturer is responsible for it
The behind the romantic comedy “Next Stop Paris” is the television manufacturer TCL, which launched the free streaming service TCLtv+ last year. The platform can only be used on TVs of this brand. To encourage customers to buy equipment, the company decided to engage animation and artificial intelligence specialists to create special content that will only be available on their website.
The film, whose trailer was published last Saturday, tells the story of a young woman whose fiancé ran away from a wedding with someone else. Abandoned during her wedding, she decides to go to Paris, where she was supposed to go on a honeymoon with her future husband. There she meets a mysterious man who accompanies her on a tour of the city called the “city of lovers”.
Romantic love according to AI, or… an abandoned woman meets a handsome man in Paris
For this reason, while the technique used to produce the film can be considered groundbreaking, the plot convention is very cliched. However, the end result leaves much to be desired and most viewers will immediately notice that it is the work of artificial intelligence.
The trailer, which lasts only a minute, resembles an advertising spot for a smartphone application rather than a professionally made film. However, real people are responsible for the script, but as you can hear, they most likely decided to adapt their skills to what the AI created. The premiere of “Next Stop Paris” will take place in the summer of 2024.
