The designer made great use of fur and embroidery and stood out for his long dresses, with transparencies and showy necklines that have marked international fashion for a long time. The designer sold the brand in 2015 when he retired into private life.

In addition, he was the founder of a young line, Just Cavalli in 1998 and of the Roberto Cavalli Home division, which was presented at the Salone del Mobile in 2012.

Roberto Cavalli was born in Florence and leaves behind six children, one of them only one year old, and his partner of the last 15 years, Sandra Nilsson.
