And this is a good change. TVP3 Poznań is the patron of the Equality March and will cover it

After many years of harassment against the LGBT+ community in public media, the rhetoric has completely changed. Meanwhile, it turns out that this is not all. TVP3 Poznañ has become the patron of the Poznañ Pride festival and will report on the 20th Equality March in the capital of Greater Poland. The new head of the station referred to this precedent and announced that the public antenna would be the patron of another opposing event.

In recent years, we haven’t heard much about the life of the LGBT+ community on Polish Television. And if so, only in a bad and manipulated light. Just before the 2019 parliamentary elections, a homophobic “report” entitled “Inwazja”, for broadcasting which the District Court in Warsaw punished the broadcaster.

TVP ran a hate campaign against the LGBT+ community. This has been history for several months now

It was no different in the regional centers of Polish Television. In “Teleskop”, the main news daily of TVP3 Poznań, one could watch a material by a certain Anna Molska, in which one could “find out” that “the basis of homosexuality is a gender identity disorder, which is a human tragedy”, and “the Equality March is a kind of promotion such disorders.

Fortunately, those times are over, and the new authorities of public television do not want to dehumanize any of the social groups that were regularly attacked during the so-called good change. In addition to the apology to the LGBT+ community that was made by Wojciech Szeląg on TVP Info, the new head of TVP3 Poznań also decided to apologize and delivered it in the “Łączymy” program.

In recent years, words have been uttered on this channel that should never have been addressed to LGBT+ people, Muslims or other opponents of the past government, and I am very sorry for that, said Józefowski.

– Polish Television, including TVP3 Poznań, has been a tool of repression against the LGBT community in recent years. She did it at the request of the authorities, who decided that it was profitable for them because they pointed out the enemy with which they frightened their voters and then fought against him. Which means that the authorities fought against some Polish women and men. Today, public media do not attack Poles, but build a community and ensure that various points of view are presented – said Jan Józefowski, host and new director of TVP3 Poznań.

TVP3 Poznań has become the media patron of Poznań Pride and will cover the Equality March. But the broadcaster will also show events promoting other views

He also announced that the Poznań antenna will be a space for various worldviews. – We will be the media patron of the Equality March, but we will also be the patron of the March for Life. TVP3 Poznań must be a space for different worldviews. Our editorial office now employs people with different political views and worldviews. The only important thing is that none of these views are visible in their materials, added Józefowski.

Moreover, this year TVP3 Poznań will report on the Poznań Pride festival, which includes the annual Equality March. Arek Kluk from the Stonewall group announced this groundbreaking event on his profile. – A day without rainbow breaking news is a wasted day. See you in Poznań – wrote the activist on his Facebook profile. The station’s head also commented on the matter:

The Constitution of the Republic of Poland calls for care for ‘the preservation of the inherent dignity of man, his right to freedom and the obligation of solidarity with others’ and therefore TVP Poznań will support respect for diversity. The Equality March and Poznań Pride are about him, he admitted.

The organizer of Poznań Pride and the 20th Equality March in Poznań is the Stonewall group. It is an event promoting equality, tolerance and respect. It will last not for a week, as in previous years, but for a whole month. The culminating moment will be the Equality March, which will pass through the capital of Greater Poland on June 29. For the first time in history, the city of Poznań and Estrada Poznańska will be financially and organizationally involved in this event.
