“Death on the Nile” is the second, after “Murder on the Orient Express”, adaptation of Agatha Christie’s crime novel by Kenneth Branagh, which he produced with, among others Ridley Scott. Filming for the film began in September 2019 and ended literally just before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. The film was supposed to be released shortly thereafter.
After two years, “Death on the Nile” is finally going to be released in cinemas
The premiere of the production has already been postponed several times – first for epidemiological reasons, and then a scandal around the starring player broke out.In 2021, the actor was accused of sexual harassment: rape, inconsensual BDSM practices, as well as emotional and physical abuse of partners. Hammer denied these reports, described it as an “Internet attack” – as a result, most contracts were terminated with him, the agency and the agent severed their cooperation with the actor.

The novel on which the script was based was published in 1937. The famous detective Hercules Poirot (played by Branagh himself) is going on vacation to Egypt. There he gets on board a luxury steamboat, which he travels with a cosmopolitan group of extremely worldly and very elegant fellow passengers along the shores of the longest river in the world. However, he will not be able to take advantage of the vacation: it just so happens that a young couple during their honeymoon is also on the travel list. Someone is disturbed by this idyll, and Poirot must find the murderer.
