The premiere of a 10-episode production on the Peacock platform is scheduled for the middle of the summer. For Polish viewers, this unfortunately means that they will have to wait until one of the streaming platforms available in our country buys the rights to broadcast the series also in our country.
Little is known about the plot of the series itself. It is said to focus on the last years of Emperor Vespasian’s life. It is to him that we owe the Roman Colosseum, where gladiator fights took place. He was famous for his sharp tongue, war experience and justice without excessive cruelty. He was widely liked (with an appropriate amount of caution, of course), and he was not in the habit of immediately killing his critics. He lived to the ripe old age of 69. The series is intended to show behind-the-scenes power struggles in Rome, which included gladiatorial duels. Judging by the trailer itself, there will be plenty of action and fights. The question whether Emmerich will also be able to attract interest in Roman conspiracies remains open.
