In the 1970s and 1980s, Wiesława Drojecka was considered the second most popular Polish singer, right next to Anna German. Crowds came to her concerts, fans showered her with flowers, and her hit “A Little Spring in Autumn” became a sensation on the domestic music scene. However, life itself was not very kind to the artist. After two failed marriages and the death of her beloved daughter, Drojecka ended up in a nursing home, where she remains to this day.
A star of the Polish stage
Wiesława Drojecka was born on October 27, 1930 in Grodno. She started her musical career in the late 1950s, taking first place in a singing competition organized by Polskie Radio in Poznań. After this success, the singer began studies at the Faculty of Dentistry. She obtained a diploma, but never started working as a dentist.
Immediately after graduating, she joined the Poznań Radio Fifteen, with whom she recorded about 200 songs. She also collaborated with the Polish Radio Orchestra in Wrocław, where she created many popular songs, including “Golden Rain”. In 1961, Wiesława Drojecka delighted the audience at the 1st International Song Festival in Sopot, performing the song by Bronisław Brok and Władysław Szpilman “I don’t believe the song”. For her performance, she received awards from the foreign press and “Ekspres Wieczorny”.
The artist was married twice. She got married for the first time when she was in her third year of studies. Her relationship with her ex-husband resulted in the birth of her only daughter, Izabella. However, the relationship did not stand the test of time and was verified by a difficult time for the singer, namely a stay in hospital. “I was in the hospital. First, my husband visited me alone, then he started coming with my friend. Over time, he stopped coming. So did my friend. It turned out that they were having an affair and she became pregnant with him,” she revealed in the book “The Stars Were Shining.” formerly”.
For the second time, Drojecka married the singer Jean Tatlian, who was 9 years her junior, but he left her to pursue a career abroad. The artist managed to find happiness with another partner, but considering her previous experiences, she did not decide to get married this time.
Drojecka painfully experienced the death of her only daughter, who died of cancer at the age of 35. After her departure, the singer resigned from performing in front of the public. A few years ago, the singer moved into a nursing home, where she still lives today.
