The 14-year-old had not yet had her period. When she went to the gynecologist, he grabbed his head

The first period is a real event for many girls. It usually appears between the ages of 10 and 14, although the time frame may vary for different people. However, at some point the lack of menstruation may prompt a visit to a gynecologist. This happened to a 14-year-old girl. Her mother’s hunch was right, because what the examination showed shocked everyone.

An entry recently appeared on the Facebook profile of the Misja Ona medical center, describing . She came to the specialist with her mother, and what worried them was the lack of menstruation, even though she already showed external signs related to puberty. The girl did not complain of any ailments, so from a medical point of view, we could wait a little longer. However, the doctor decided to perform an ultrasound examination. Fortunately.

The 14-year-old did not have her period. “We saw a round, pink thing the size of a tennis ball”

– To our surprised eyes, the ultrasound revealed a several-centimeter lesion in the pelvis, filled with thick content. Weird. What about a gynecological examination? In the vaginal vestibule we saw a round, pink mass the size of a tennis ball! And everything was clear: this is the so-called hematocolpos, i.e. vaginal blood. A “lump” filled with blood. Like a balloon – we read in the entry. The recording shows photos from an ultrasound examination with the description: – It is a vagina filled with blood and purulent contents. Three times the size of the uterus.

The 14-year-old had not yet had her period. When she went to the gynecologist, he grabbed his head Facebook / Misja Ona

It turned out that the cause of this “lump” was the obliteration of the girl’s hymen, and the young lady had probably been menstruating for several months! However, menstrual blood had no outlet from the vagina and accumulated there every month like in a bag, reaching a large volume.

Specialists drew attention to the fact that in such cases, patients most often complain of pain in the lower abdomen. They are then referred to hospital urgently. However, this was not the case with this 14-year-old girl. Her hymen was incised and the “balloon disappeared.” Tests showed that the uterus and ovaries were healthy.

“Send her to a gynecologist as soon as possible.”

This girl’s story had a happy ending, but it didn’t have to be that way. As we mentioned, such situations often result in immediate hospitalization. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to any deviations from the norm, especially pain, and contact an appropriate specialist.

If you have a girl with primary amenorrhea, cyclical pain in the lower abdomen, and complaining of a strange formation in the perineum, send her to a gynecologist as soon as possible.
