LGBT+ Film Festival has started! At first in Warsaw, and later throughout Poland and online

The 15th anniversary edition of the LGBT+ Film Festival has just begun. This year’s celebration of cinema devoted to the life of sexual minorities began in Warsaw, and will later move to seven other Polish cities. The productions are divided into five categories, and in the capital, the festival is accompanied by daily special events on the Artistic Stage.

During the LGBT+ Film Festival, over 100 feature and short films will be presented. Viewers can choose films from five sections, such as: “In a Gay’s World”, “Lesbian Love Affairs”, “Queer”, “What You Need to Know This! Docs” and “Long Story Shorts” with thematically selected short films.

This year we can choose from five sections with films awarded around the world

The opening film of the festival at the Warsaw Kinoteka was the comedy “Big Boys“, the main character of which is the teenage Jamie. During a holiday trip, an obese boy begins to feel special sympathy for his cousin’s boyfriend. Initially, Jamie cures his complexes by repeating toxic patterns, in order to finally accept himself as he is.

Director Corey Sherman included autobiographical reflections in the production, pointing out that body shaming and figure complexes affect not only women, but also men, regardless of age. “Big Boys” received, among others, two awards during last year’s edition of the Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival: the audience award for Best Feature Film and Isaac Krasner, playing the main character, won in the “Best Actor” category.

Images that deserve special attention include:“telling the story of a pair of two women who decide to live together in the Hungarian countryside,”” about two Egyptians living in the United States who suddenly have to return to Egypt, where they cannot admit that they are a couple, and “” presenting the love dilemmas of two drag artists, whose situation is complicated by the arrival of the mother of one of them.

What about the art scene? One event will be hosted by the star of the new TVN show

The second edition of the Artistic Stage as part of the LGBT+ Film Festival Poland 2024 will also be held at the Warsaw Kinoteka. Each day of the anniversary edition of the festival will take place a special event promoting queer work from Poland and Europe. Importantly, admission to all shows is free, and the star of one of them will be Shady Lady, who is a mentor in the TVN program “Drag Me Out. Time for a show”. The patron of the Artistic Stage and the official club accompanying the 15th edition of the LGBT+ Film Festival is La Pose Varsovie at ul. Mazowiecka 6/8 in Warsaw.
