Stanisława Ryster is dead. The host of the “Wielka gra” program was 81 years old. Information about the presenter’s death was provided by Mariusz Machnikowski, a game show veteran who appeared in the program when Stanisława Ryster was the host. “Ryś Pieniążkiewicz called me with the news about the death of Mrs. Stanisława Ryster – of course, we are both going to her funeral. Rysiek and I have shared memories…” – he wrote on the X website and posted a fragment of the episode of “Wielka Game”.

Mariusz Machnikowski was a mathematician when he first appeared in the “Wielka gra” program. Later he changed his career path. He worked at Radio Gdańsk as a sports journalist, and was also the director of the Gdańsk sports hall (currently Polsat Plus Arena Gdynia).

Stanisława Ryster was the host of the legendary game show on Polish Television for 31 years. In 2006, the presenter went on holiday, during which she learned from the newspapers that the program had been taken off the air. “I wasn’t given a chance to say goodbye to the viewers,” she said bitterly. You could say that Ryster became the host of “The Big Game” by accident. After graduating from law school, she had no idea that she would soon start a television career.

Everything changed when she found out about the recruitment for the position of weatherwoman. Instead of the above-mentioned vacancy, Ryster began working in youth programs and news. She joined “The Big Game” in 1975 and liked the format almost immediately. She made sure that the program did not lose quality. It was she who ordered the participants to wear jackets instead of shirts and sweaters. In consultation with specialists, she also developed the questions asked to them. She also won from the president of TVP an increase in prizes for the program winners.
