Anna Szczepaniak was born on April 16, 1951 in Warsaw. 23 years later, she graduated from the PWST in Warsaw, she wanted to become an actress since childhood. The parents had a different idea for their child’s education and tried to convince the girl, who was fascinated by theater and cinema, to study engineering. Her father kept telling her that a career in construction would provide her with a more stable existence. However, Szczepaniak followed her own desires. She got into acting school on the first try.
Anna Szczepaniak was on the way to fulfilling her dreams. Then she met Antkowiak
During her studies, Szczepaniak met Andrzej Strzelecki, who was a year younger than her. The young people quickly fell in love and spent their studies together. Many friends envied their relationship and could not find any flaw in their almost perfect relationship. Everything was going great in the young actress’s life. While still a student, she started acting in the first Television Theater performances and even in films. Strzelecki proposed to his beloved, but Szczepaniak waited with the wedding until the end of his studies.
The actress has already had a role in “Three Sisters” and the film “The House of My Sons”. When she turned 25 in her career, a breakthrough occurred. Thanks to the series “Daleko od szosy” she gained enormous popularity. Although she played the supporting role of Wieśka, the main character’s student friend, it was enough for her to become recognizable.
According to Świat Seriali, Strzelecki and Szczepaniak were seriously planning a wedding. They had even bought wedding rings when Anna met Andrzej Antkowiak, Kalina Jędrusik’s former lover. The actress met her then lover and heartbreaker, 15 years older than her, at the Polish Theater during rehearsals. He was married at the time. She lost her head for the actor.
“Ania literally went crazy with love for him,” a friend of the actress told “Dobre Tygodnia” years later. She didn’t listen to the warnings about the older man, who wasn’t in the best of his life at the time. She was drinking away stress and lack of professional success, but it didn’t bother her. She dreamed of him leaving his wife and marrying her. “She had serious plans for him from the very beginning: she decided that not only would she help him get over his addiction, but she would become his wife,” we read in “retro” magazine.
She gave up her career for her loved one. When he left, she didn’t want to live anymore
Unfortunately, Antkowiak quickly lost control over his addiction. The actor was fired from the Polish Theater, which was a big blow to Anna. Szczepaniak also showed solidarity with his beloved. She quickly got a job offer at the Syrena Theater, where she made her debut in a major role in the play “Wielki Dodek”. Anna’s career in the theater did not last long. Antkowiak wanted to go to Olsztyn. He promised the actress a wedding, a house, a child and stability, and Szczepaniak, who was in love, did not hesitate for a moment.
Unfortunately, Andrzej Antkowiak did not keep his promises to his partner. Things weren’t going well for the couple in Olsztyn, and the devastated actor didn’t stop drinking. During one of the libations he was severely beaten. In 1979, at the age of 43, he died from his injuries. He didn’t regain consciousness even for a moment. The death certificate stated that the cause of death was a brain aneurysm.
Anna broke down. After her loved one’s death, she broke off contact with her loved ones and stopped leaving the house. 40 days after Antkowiak’s death, she jumped out of a window and did not survive the suicide attempt. She passed away before she was 28 years old.
