Would the host of “19:30” go for coffee with Danuta Holecka? “It wouldn’t be a good time”

Marek Czy¿ and Danuta Holecka worked together at Telewizja Polska for years. The journalist left TVP in August 2016 and stayed away from public media for years. We saw him again on TVP on December 20, 2023, when, as the new host of “7:30”, he announced the changes. Would you like to meet Danuta Holecka for coffee today?

On December 20, 2023, Marek Czyż appeared on the screens of TVP viewers and issued a statement about changes in Telewizja Polska. The next day he hosted the first edition of the “19:30” program, which replaced the former “Wiadomości”. Thus, it became a symbol of change. Since February 2024, he has also been hosting the journalistic program “Bez Retuszu”, broadcast on TVP Info. Recently, in a conversation with the journalist ofkultur.gazeta.pl, Bartłomiej Marcinkowski, he was asked whether, after the past events, he would arrange a coffee with Danuta Holecka. You can watch the interview below.

Marek Czyż about Danuta Holecka: We would have nothing to talk about

The TVP journalist emphasized that he had worked closely with Danuta Holecka for many years. – I spent years with Danka on television, elbow to elbow, we sat at the same desk, presenting one program (…) I think that everyone has their five minutes in life and either use them nefariously, nobly, or not at all He waves it off because he notices that this is not a good moment to show off, he said.

Answering the question about going out for coffee, he bluntly admitted that it was not a good time for such a meeting. – I would go for coffee with her, but she wouldn’t go for coffee with me, I’m strangely calm about that. And it wouldn’t be a good moment for both of us, because we wouldn’t have anything to talk about, he confessed.

“In these first days and hours I am treated outside like a soldier.”

Marek Czyż also recalled the day when he first appeared on TVP as the host of “7:30”. – I was convinced that I would end up in a place where I would work as a journalist. Meanwhile, it turned out that in those first days and hours I was treated outside like a soldier. Like a guy who comes to fight over something. (…) It slightly distorted my perception of what I was involved in, so if I were to look for some strange and different emotions, these were strange and different, because it turned out that the perception of what we do is moderately related to journalism – he said.
