She got married while still behind bars. Three Months After Gypsy Rose Blanchard Announces Separation

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after eight years in December 2023, and in the summer of 2022 she married Ryan Scott Anderson. The couple originally planned a second wedding, but instead Blanchard announced their separation. “I need time to discover who I really am,” writes Gypsy, who was sentenced for planning the murder of her mother with Munchausen’s surrogate syndrome, who had been abusing her for 20 years.

“People ask what’s going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are separating. I moved into my father’s and stepmother’s house. I have the support of my family and friends who help me get through it. I’m learning to listen to my heart. Now I need time to allow myself to discover who I really am,” Gypsy Rose Blanchard said in a statement obtained by People magazine from her private Facebook account.

After three months in prison, Blanchard leaves her husband

Blanchard and Ryan Scott Anderson married in July 2022 in a ceremony at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri, where Gypsy was serving time for the murder of her mother. In an interview she gave to People shortly before leaving prison, she said that she and her beloved planned to get married again when she was released.

– We want to organize a second wedding with all our family, friends, dress, cake and everything because we deserve it. I deserve it. She deserves it, said the 32-year-old. – Our prison wedding was simply an opportunity to exchange vows, it was significant for us. “I think the party is something for everyone else,” she explained, excited at the prospect of a life together with Anderson, a 37-year-old teacher from Louisiana. – I’ve never lived with a man. I grew up with my mom, so I didn’t even have a dad. I have no idea what life with a man is like – she tells People.

At the beginning of March, Gypsy deleted her Instagram account, followed by several million people, and her Twitter profile also disappeared. Instead, she started keeping private profiles that only her friends and family could access. However, Ryan Anderson’s profile is available, and he constantly informs in his Instagram description that “he is the husband of the greatest, most beautiful woman in the world, Gypsy Rose Blanchard.”

Blanchard left prison already a celebrity. Several productions were made about her life story while she was still in prison. First there was the very famous documentary “Mommy Dear is Dead” and the Emmy-winning fiction miniseries “The Act” with Patricia Arquette in the role of the drastically murdered Dee Dee Blanchard.

For the first 20 years of her life, Gypsy was the victim of a mother with Munchausen syndrome by proxy, who convinced everyone that her daughter had, among other things, muscle atrophy, has to use a wheelchair, suffers from leukemia, asthma, epilepsy, has poor eyesight, is deaf and will never intellectually exceed the level of a six-year-old child. Gypsy underwent a lot of unnecessary surgeries and was drugged and poisoned with various drugs for years, and her mother even lied about her age, constantly rejuvenating her. She extorted money, a house, free trips, equipment and other forms of support for the alleged treatment. Cut off from the world and practically incapacitated, Gypsy tried to contact the police, but when that failed, she planned the murder of her mother with a boy she met online. Her case became famous all over the world and was widely reported. Blachard herself published a biography in 2024.
