The film “918 gau” continues to accumulate awards

“918 close”, a feature film by the Navarrese filmmaker Arantza Santesteban, has been awarded the Latexos award at the Novos Cinemas Festival in Pontevedra, after winning the award for the best film in the international section of the DocsLisboa festival and the award for the best international documentary in the Turin film festival.

The jury of the Galician festival has underlined “the way that the director has of telling a political conflict from the intimate, doing it in a risky, coherent and cinematic way; the use she makes of her own body and that of other women, and her refreshing insight into archival footage and everyday cinema. “

“918 gau” collects in 65 minutes the memories and doubts of the filmmaker during the 918 nights she spent in prison after being arrested on October 4, 2007.

“My obsession has been to show hidden spaces and experiences in images,” the filmmaker told us last year at the Zinemaldia in San Sebastián about the film.

“918 gau”, a Txintxua Films and Hiruki Filmak production in which EITB participates, will be released in 2022 by the distribution company Begin Again.
