“Each of Buddy’s accounts on Instagram and YouTube are followed by over 2 million people. Playing with lifestyle and motoring in a very broad spectrum led to recordings in dozens of countries, in various corners of the world. The team looked for the best shots, among others, in Chernobyl and in the United States, Romania and Bosnia and Herzegovina. ‘Buddha. The Kid ’98’ is an extremely inspiring, universal story about the strength of character, determination to make dreams come true, but also the huge potential of the YouTube industry and the opportunities hidden within it,” we read in production description.
“Buddha. Kid ’98” broke the bank. The best opening ever
The hit document was directed by Krystian Kuczkowski, co-creator of the hit “Ania”, about the life of the famous actress Ania Przybylska, which was seen in cinemas by over 600,000 viewers. One of the co-producers is Platige Image, responsible for, among others, for his work on the Netflix series “The Witcher”.
“Power, there was no moment that was boring”, “a mega motivating and inspiring film”, “It is a lesson for young people that even when you are at the bottom you can do so much and no matter what the past was”, “A mega strong film that tugs at the heartstrings” – viewers judge right after the screening.
“Buddha. Kid ’98.” Opinions about the film are divided
Critics who “awarded” the film one out of ten stars have a completely different opinion. The production has only two ratings from independent reviewers on Filmweb, but they are consistent. “A film-like product that forces fans to pay for a cinema ticket for a home-made YouTube video. A completely outrageous laurel about its own arrogance,” writes Maciej Roch Satora. “Children and Buddy’s fans will like this uplifting story. And it probably won’t do any harm. People looking for interesting cinema obviously have nothing to look for in it,” writes RafaĆ Krauze from Newonce in his review.
