Recently, it seems to me that we are dealing with a plague of lazy housewives. Every time I meet my friends, I feel like I live in a different world. They always have time to make an appointment in the city, they spend half the day doing their nails or going to the shops because they leave the child under the care of a nanny, they control the roomba from the restaurant that vacuums their apartment, and they never have a problem what to eat for dinner because thermomix always finds a recipe for them. Shopping is, of course, delivered by courier. “I don’t know how you live without a thermomix” – I hear and my blood boils.
“I wouldn’t want such luxury for any money”
Every day I finish work, pick up the children, and then I stay in the kitchen until the night to prepare everything for the next day. Dinner, food for school, lunch for myself and my husband. In the meantime, I put the laundry in and quickly clean it up. On Saturdays we do general cleaning and shopping for the entire week. However, I do not treat it as an unpleasant duty, because this is my role as a wife and mother.
When it comes to the thermomix, I wouldn’t want such luxury for any money. Not only do you have to cut and peel all the vegetables, but the equipment takes up half of the countertop and needs to be washed later. I might as well throw it all into the pot. Without clicking, paying for a subscription and pretending that I’m so modern. Besides, I don’t believe that dinner from such a device can be called a real dinner. After all, the best recipes are those that have that “something” added by the lady of the house.
“I hear I’m the weird one”
My friends constantly blame me for complaining that I’m tired and don’t have time to go out together. “What are you doing all day? Relax a little, you deserve some rest,” they ask and suggest that “there are so many solutions that can make everyday life easier.” They don’t understand that I’m wasting my money on such nonsense. I hear I’m the weird one. Is it really impossible to live a normal life nowadays? Is this the reality everywhere now, or do we live in a Warsaw bubble?
Anna.
