Barbara Kurdej-Szatan had to take her high school final exams twice
The actress was born and studied in Opole. There she graduated from music school with cello as her main instrument, and also started secondary school. In 2004, she took the secondary school leaving examination like everyone else in her age group. However, she was, as she put it, “unlucky”. She had to take the exam twice.
Many people will probably think that I failed and only succeeded in the re-sit. None of these things. There were leaks in Opole at that time and the authorities got so angry that we had to write the exam again. The stress was huge – she recalled in 2019 in an interview with 24opole.pl.
At that time, the actress was taking the Polish language and mathematics exam. I managed to pass Polish after a short repetition, but mathematics was not so easy. Additional tutoring was necessary. The effort paid off. Barbara Kurdej-Szatan later got into the Academy of Theater Arts in Krakow at the vocal and stage department, which she graduated in 2009. Already then, she could boast of numerous TV and theater roles. Six years later, she received the first Telekamera “Tele Tygodnia”. In the following years, she alternated nominations for Telekamery in the “actress” category with nominations for Węży – but here she ended up with only one statuette. Kurdej-Szatan’s achievements include definitely more Telekameras than less prestigious awards.
