Aroa Arrizubieta has been proclaimed champion of the Álava Bertsolarismo Championship, in the final that was held on Saturday at the Teatro Principal de Gasteiz.

At the end of the exercises, the woman from Gasteiz has added 614.5 points that have helped her win the victory.

She has reached the final duel, with Manex Agirre, who was just one point behind the winner, achieving 613.5 points. Agirre has said that this was his last championship.

Paula Amiburu was third (415 points); Peru Abarrategi, fourth (412.5); Asier Otamendi, fifth (410.5); and Iñaki Viñaspre, sixth (381.5).

Aroa Arrizubieta, born in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2001, was playing in her second final today (she participated for the first time in 2019). Despite being the youngest and that four of her five opponents knew what it was like to achieve the txapela, this time, she was the one who deserved the txapela.

Xabier Rico Iturrioz, a man of great importance in the history of Alava bertsolaritza, has been in charge of giving the txapela to Arrizubieta, precisely in this way Arabako Bertsozale Elkartea wanted to thank everything that Rico has given and continues to give to the bertsolaritza of the territory. Rico was one of those who sang at the first Álava Championship in 1984, and since then he has worked as a bertsolari, teacher, judge, gai-jartzaile and organizer. The last time he sang was in the 2019 qualifiers at the Álava Bertsolaris Championship.
