Although Tomasz Raczek’s private life arouses great curiosity, he is reluctant to share its details with the media. It is known that for almost three decades she has been in a happy relationship with a writer and graphic artist, 15 years her junior, Marcin Szczygielski. Their first meeting took place in 1994, exactly two days before New Year’s Eve, which they also spent together. – There was the first kiss at midnight, and then we talked all night long – he recalled in . After only two weeks of dating, they moved in together and have been almost inseparable ever since.
First, they lived in a property on the Zegrze Reservoir, but a few years ago they decided to buy another one. However, before they moved in, they had to arrange it and adapt it to their own preferences. Raczek fully entrusted Szczygielski with this task, because, as he admitted in an interview for the portal, “he is not only a great writer and graphic designer, but also an interior designer.” – He has a vivid imagination that arouses my admiration – confessed the film critic.

Szczygielski made sure that each room was not only functional, but also pleasing to the eye. The interiors feature sophisticated graphics by Jan Lenica and antique elements, including: old porcelain or colorful accessories. – He is an artist: he not only knows what is good, but he can also do it. So even if at the beginning some decorative ideas seem too daring, after a while (sometimes longer, I admit) I feel that he was right – said Raczek.
He also revealed that there was a lot of space to arrange, because it was really large, but his beloved rose to the challenge, creating a place to which they both willingly return. – Our house is huge, but it takes place vertically. You can’t see it at first glance because it has the structure of a lighthouse, he revealed. On the first floor there is his office and relaxation area, so there are many elements related to the sea and the navy, because as a child he dreamed of becoming a ship captain. A little higher up, Szczygielski has his artistic studio.
The place where they spend the most time together is the living room. In its center there are leather sofas and velvet armchairs. The whole is complemented by colorful curtains, a carpet and smaller accessories such as pillows or lamps. Nearby there is a private, large-sized room with a sofa where people like to read. – We were looking for a house that would allow us to live a little together and a little apart – he said.
He emphasized that he wanted each element to have meaning and a story. For this reason, he decorated his bedroom mostly with furniture he inherited from Zygmunt Kałużyński. There are also Buddhist quotes in the form of wall hangings and extravagant travel souvenirs. The views from the windows extend to a beautiful garden and forested area.
