Since the revolution at TVP, it has been emphasizing that it stands out from the competition due to its independence. Journalists and the station’s management constantly emphasize objectivity and emphasize that they are not subject to any political influence.
TV Republika is manipulating the poll. The audience didn’t hear this
Due to the declarations, viewers have the right to expect that TV Republika will not favor any party in its materials. In practice, lofty assumptions verify themselves very quickly. We could see an example of a violation of the station’s promises in the last issue of “Express Republika” run by Rafał Patyra.
“The local elections are fast approaching. Polls show fierce competition between Law and Justice and the Civic Coalition,” announced the presenter, who until recently hosted the twin program “Teleexpress” on Polish Television.
The journalist himself noted that the deadline for registering applications for commune heads, mayors and city presidents had passed only an hour ago. “Law and Justice can count on the greatest support from Poles,” we hear in the report.
“Objective” TV Republika allowed only the PiS candidate to vote
The material presents data from a survey conducted for WP. And although the quotation is authentic, it was given in a very suggestive way. A chart titled “Political Party Support Poll” appeared on the screen. It presented the division of votes that respondents would give to individual parties in elections to voivodeship assemblies.
The list shown on Republika TV concerned voting for councilors. However, this was not emphasized in the material, on the contrary. The author of the report from the chart moved smoothly to presenting the PiS candidate for president of Warsaw – Tomasz Bocheński, although the bars had nothing to do with it.
Moreover, only the representative of the Law and Justice party was given airtime to present his electoral demands. The report includes a recording in which Bocheński criticizes housing construction in the capital. The material lacked, for example, the counterattack of the current president of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski.
