A judge at the Santa Monica court (Los Angeles, USA) established this Tuesday that the trial for rape against the director Roman Polanski will be celebrated on August 4, 2025.

The filmmaker, who will not have to attend in person because it is a civil process, is facing a lawsuit filed by a woman in June of last year alleging that the creator of films like The Pianist (The pianist) (2002) got her drunk when she was 16 and abused her unconscious when she arrived at the director’s house. “The plaintiff remembers that she woke up in the defendant’s bed with him lying next to her (…) The plaintiff, although dazed, told the defendant: ‘Please don’t do it,'” it was described in the court document .

The incident, occurred in 1973 and prescribed for criminal proceedings, came after the two met at a party and he invited her to dinner at a restaurant in Los Angeles. What happened next, according to the lawsuit, was that both went to the filmmaker’s home, but he ignored their pleas, He raped her and took the young woman back to his house.

The plaintiff, who goes by the name of Robin M., granted this Tuesday a press conference together with Gloria Allred, a lawyer known for representing women in high-profile cases, in which she assured that she did not denounce Polanski out of “fear” and that she is now seeking that he, at least, admit his “responsibility.”

For his part, Alexander Rufus-Isaacs, director’s lawyer based in Paris, issued a statement this Tuesday to the Hollywood press simply denying the accusations and to establish that it will be the courts who decide the course of the case.
