In 2021, Piotr Zelt, known, among others, for his role as Arnie in “The 13th Precinct”, published a strong entry on Facebook about the situation on Poland’s eastern border. “Mrs. ‘spokesman’ of the Border Guard, the face of the brutal, bandit standards of the PiS state,” wrote the outraged actor. He attached a photo of Anna Michalska, mentioned here, to the post.

The post quickly gained popularity, divided commentators and reached the person concerned. The case ended with an indictment for Zelt. As PAP reported, the document was submitted by the Military Affairs Department of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw.

Piotr Zelt was accused of defaming and insulting the former press spokeswoman of the Commander-in-Chief of the Border Guard. The actor’s trial began in October 2023. Today we know the court’s decision.

Radosław Skiba, the attorney representing the PAP actor, that the district court exonerated Zelt from the charges. He justified his decision in an oral summary, in which he stated that the actor’s statement was within the limits of freedom of expression and the right to criticism. The judgment is not yet final.

Piotr Zelt has already commented on the outcome of the hearing. The actor is aware that the other side of the conflict will most likely file an appeal, but he does not seem to be worried about it. “The court of first instance freed me from the absurd charge of insulting my uniform, imposed on me by PiS supporters. They will probably appeal. The prosecutor is exceptionally zealous, but it seems to me that normality and simple, basic decency are returning. The officers of the fallen PiS pseudo-regime are stomping around helplessly” – writes Zelt on Facebook.
