Beata Michniewicz lost her job at Radio Trójka. “I feel like I’ve been betrayed or died suddenly”

Beata Michniewicz has been associated with Polish Radio for almost 40 years. This week she was thanked for her cooperation – she lost the program on Trójka.

Beata Michniewicz is a legend of Polish Radio. She has been associated with Trójka since 1983 and hosted numerous programs that have already gone down in history as Trójka classics – “Salon Polityczny Trójki”, “Śniadanie w Trójce” and “Puls Europa”. . The statement said that this change is “part of the project to rebuild the market and image position of Trójka”, which has lost much of its importance in the last few years.

Beata Michniewicz comments on losing her job at Trójka

The journalist commented. She clearly does not hide her disappointment with the decision that suddenly ended her almost 40-year career at one radio station.

It feels like a betrayal or the sudden death of someone close to me. I hope that honest people will perceive me through the prism of good things, such as the “Silver Lips” plebiscite or the Mediatory 2019 journalism students’ award, which I won in the “Authority” category and which is more important to me than any industry competitions, she said.

Polish Radio assures that an agreement was reached with the journalist not to publicly comment on the breakup:

We agreed with Beata Michniewicz to remain silent on this matter and we want to keep it – reported to Wirtualna Polska.

The situation of Radio Three is unenviable

The crisis of Radio Three has been going on for the last few years. During the PiS government, the presidents of all public media companies were replaced. Agnieszka Kamiñska became the head of Polish Radio. Under her rule, Trójka lost its value due to profound changes in the schedule. After Marek Niedźwiecki’s hit list was interfered with in 2020 and Kazik’s winning song “Your pain is better than mine” was ordered to be removed, long-time collaborators who created this radio station began to leave Trójka. Marek Niedźwiecki, Marcin Kydryński, Hirek Wrona, Michał Olszański, Agnieszka Szydłowska, Agnieszka Obszańska, Piotr Metz left Trójka in protest… Some of them started the Radio 357 project.

In the following years, Trójka gradually lost listeners. Regardless of its nationwide coverage, its listenership was less than 2%. As they reported a year ago, Trójka reduced its results by 75%. under new political rule. For comparison – the most listened to radio in Poland is RMF FM with a reach of up to 30%.
