Rafał Stańczyk went on a real path “from an intern” to a journalist. In recent years, he worked in the United States as a TVP correspondent. He prepared materials from the largest events in the USA and the region, but with changes in Polish Television, it was decided that cooperation with the reporter had come to an end.
Rafał Stańczyk ends his work at TVP. He is disappointed
Rafał Stańczyk has been a correspondent from various places around the world for years. He worked in Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia. In 2019, he became a correspondent in a much more peaceful place than the conflict-ridden areas. He has resided in the United States for the last four years.
However, since December, changes have been carried out in Public Television and few people who were the faces of the “old” TVP have kept their jobs. At the end of January, Wirtualne Media announced that Marcin Antosiewicz would now be the US correspondent. A month later, Rafał Stańczyk provided information about the end of cooperation with TVP.
“After more than 17 years, my adventure with TVP is ending. From an intern carrying cassettes to a US correspondent. Along the way, there were reports from wars, revolutions, elections, many hours of special editions, reportages… I liked this job! Thank you to all the good people on my way.”
– he wrote on social media. In an interview with the website, he expanded his comments regarding the form of dismissal from Telewizja Polska.
I must admit that TVP’s decision to completely end the cooperation was a surprise to me. I thought that my experience and knowledge about the United States, national security and the Polish army in the era of the US presidential elections and the growing tension on our eastern border would be useful in the editorial office in Warsaw. However, this did not happen. For now, I have to wrap up my affairs in the US and after returning to Poland, I will decide how I can best use my experience.
The new authorities in the public media decided to end cooperation with most of the previous correspondents. Employees were changed at the facility in Paris (Maksymilian Maszenda), Germany (Cezary Gmyz), Kiev (Piotr Kućma), London (Dariusz Bohatkiewicz) and Prague, Czech Republic (Tomasz Jędrychow).
