Sinead O’Connor’s loved ones appealed to Donald Trump. They demand an end to playing the deceased singer’s song at the politician’s rallies. Which song is it exactly?

The ongoing primaries in the United States are accompanied by candidate rallies organized in various states. At meetings held last week in Maryland and North Carolina, Donald Trump’s campaign played Sinead O’Connor’s song “Nothing Compares 2 U.” The artist’s relatives and Chrysalis Records found out that the deceased singer’s songs were used in political struggles for the presidency of the Republican Party.

Sinead O’Connor’s family, in agreement with the record label, issued a statement in which they appealed to Donald Trump. Its content was sent to Variety. “As we know, Sinead O’Connor has been guided by a moral code throughout her life, defined by honesty, justice and decency towards others. That is why we were outraged that Donald Trump used her iconic song during his political rallies… Not without it is an exaggeration to say that Sinead would feel embarrassed, hurt and offended if her work were used in this way and misinterpreted by someone she called a ‘Biblical devil.’ As guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates stop using her work immediately music,” wrote the singer’s relatives.

This isn’t the first time Donald Trump has been admonished for not using a specific artist’s music. Earlier, Johnny Marr of The Smiths made a similar request. The song was “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want”, which was used at a rally in South Dakota. Let us recall that Sinead O’Connor died on July 26, 2023 of natural causes.
