Joanna Szczepkowska is one of the most popular Polish theater, television and film actresses in Poland. Her artistic achievements include many excellent titles, including: “Con amore”, “Dekalog III”, “Ryś” and “Volta”. Despite this, the vast majority of people remember her from her appearance in the “TV Journal” in October 1898, in which she announced the fall of communism in Poland.
Szczepkowska’s parents were also actors. They didn’t want her to follow in their footsteps
She already showed artistic skills when she was a child, and in interviews she joked that she inherited them in her genes, as she comes from an intelligentsia family. Her maternal grandfather was the author of “Mythology”, Jan Parandowski, twice nominated for the Nobel Prize. His daughter, Roma, initially developed as an actress, but when she married her colleague, Andrzej Szczepkowski, known from such productions as “Awantura o Basia”, “The Secret of Enigma”, “Wesele” and “Civil War”, she decided to give up her career to take care of the house.
Due to the fact that her parents knew well not only the highlights, but also the shadows of fame, they did not want their daughter to share this fate. Her father was particularly against it, believing that it was too difficult a profession for a sensitive woman. – He really didn’t want me to follow in his footsteps. Actually, this was his main fear: that I would get infected with this profession – . However, she believed that talent was in her blood and that she was doomed to this path. She successfully passed the entrance exams to the Warsaw theater school, which she successfully graduated in 1975 and began a career that continues to this day.
Szczepkowska’s daughters are conquering the film industry. What productions did Maria and Hanna Konarowskie appear in?
The actress’s first husband was a colleague, Mirosław Konarowski. Although they met during their studies, their paths crossed several times on the sets of various productions, including: during the shooting of the cult “Con amore”, but for a long time the relationship was purely friendly. Love appeared only a few years later and in 1979 the couple got married. Even though their marriage did not stand the test of time, they still maintain friendly relations for the sake of their daughters, Maria and Hanna, who were born in 1980 and 1983.
It turns out that Szczepkowska’s children also continue the family tradition. After completing compulsory education, they began studying at Lee Strasburger’s school in New York and returned to Poland, starting their careers. Maria Konarowska made her debut on the small screen in 2004 in the series, but her main role in “Cinderella” brought her the greatest popularity. He has also produced such productions as “First Love”, “Commissioner Alex” and “Father Mateusz”, as well as participation in the first edition of the entertainment program.
In turn, the younger sister, Hanna Konarowska, initially focused mainly on working in the theater. Her first screen role was an episode in “Na dobre i na evil” in 2002. Later she appeared in, among others, “Kryminalny”, “Lejdis”, “Wkręteni 2” and “Don’t worry about me”. She is known to the wider audience mainly as Elka from “M jak miłość”.
