Tadeusz Łyskawa, former member of the Papa Dance band and its co-founder, is struggling with the effects of a serious illness. In 2022, the musician suffered a heart attack and then a stroke, as a result of which he still suffers from right arm and leg paresis, epilepsy and aphasia.
Tadeusz Łyskawa from Papa Dance wants to get back to health. The collection of the Polish Music Foundation has started
The singer’s treatment and rehabilitation requires huge financial outlays, which neither Łyskawa’s family nor his closest friends can cover. The musician is not entitled to a pension or treatments reimbursed by the National Health Fund. “He is not entitled to physical rehabilitation benefits from the National Health Fund and financial support benefits for disabled people because he has been in the DPS since November 2023. He was not entitled to a pension because he lacked 1.5 years of work, so as part of his continued business pays contributions to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS). The money from renting an apartment is collected to cover the costs of living in the DPS,” we read in the description of the collection.
The money from the collection will be used to cover the costs of speech therapy, rehabilitation and the purchase of an orthosis. “One meeting with a speech therapist costs PLN 130, with a rehabilitator PLN 200. The costs of private rehabilitation so far were borne by Tadeusz’s friends, now together with the Papa Dance band we want to start a collection so that the Foundation can finance as many rehabilitation treatments as possible for Tadeusz Łyskawa,” writes the Polish Music Foundation .
Tadeusz Łyskawa has been performing with the Papa Dance group since 1988. The band reached the peak of popularity at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. They became famous for such hits as “Bez sensacji”, “Maxi Singiel” and “Nasz Disneyland”. In 2007, Łyskawa left Papa Dance, and five years ago he became a father.
