Rafał Porzeziński has hosted “Survivors” late at night on Thursdays on air 1 since 2018. Meetings with people struggling with addictions, conversations with experts – all this was not aimed at making a show, but – which is rare in recent years on TVP – the mission of helping people. According to informants, the broom that is currently sweeping and cleaning Polish Television of what has been its face for the last eight years will also take care of “Survivors”.
Does the missionary program disappear from TVP?
Compared to other TVP productions, “Survivors” was an exception in a sea of propaganda. The missionary program was shown once a week late at night – it started on Thursdays after 11 p.m. The host, Rafał Porzeziński, invited people undergoing addiction treatment, people undergoing therapy, doctors and therapists to “Survivors”. Viewers could also use teleconsultation. The main focus was on the problem of alcohol addiction, which to varying degrees may affect up to three million people in Poland (according to research by the State Agency for Solving Alcohol Problems, this is the number of people who abuse alcohol without clinical symptoms of addiction). Recent research, the results of which were published last week by “Rzeczpospolita”, say that Poles buy vodka three times more often than… milk. But alcoholism was not the only topic of “Survivors”. The program featured addicts to various things – gambling, sex, drugs, food, work.
Alcoholism, gambling and other addictions democratically affect both farmers and journalists, women and men, declared leftists and rightists, professors and unemployed people. Both this problem and its solutions should eliminate all divisions, says Porzeziński.
The “Survivors” program avoided cheap sensation and focused on real support for addicts. However, as Presserwis informs, from March we will no longer see him on TVP, although the host has not yet received any official decisions regarding his future:
We have not officially received any decision from those planning the schedule, I still hope for the continuation of the series. Together with the entire team and the large “Survivors” community, we believe that TVP, implementing the mission confirmed by the tasks imposed by the National Broadcasting Council, will consider continuing the missionary “Survivors” series to be purposeful – he says.
Michał Figurski is the last guest of the program
It was reported on the “Survivors” social media that he would be one of the main guests of the episode. It turns out that the presenter was supposed to be the last guest, as he announced on his social media:
