“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Kenneth Alexander Mitchell, a beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, son and dear friend. For five and a half years, Ken faced a series of terrible challenges related to ALS. Against all odds, Ken managed to live a full and joyful life. He lived by the principle that every day is a gift and we never go through life alone,” said Kenneth Mitchell’s family on Instagram. In 2018, the actor was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, an incurable neurological disease that leads to muscle weakness and speech problems.

Kenneth Mitchell was born on November 25, 1974 in Toronto. In 2006, he married actress Susan May Pratt, with whom he had two children. As of 2019, Mitchell was in a wheelchair. “Ken loved his job and valued his friends – many of whom he had been close to since childhood – but he lived for Susan and their children, Lilah and Kallum, whom he held deep in his heart,” reads the description of the fundraiser set up on GoFundMe. The funds collected there will be donated to support the family of the deceased actor.
